Allen County Economic Opportunity Council (ACEOC) was formed. Initial programs included: Head Start, Legal Services, Neighborhood Youth Corps, Economic Development, Emergency Food and Medical Services, Youth Development, Neighborhood Services System, Foster Grandparents, and Planning and Research.
The ACEOC became the Community Action of Northeast Indiana Inc. (CANI) and expanded its service footprint to include additional communities outside of Allen County.
CANI approached 50 years of helping people in the communities we serve and once again the name was changed to its current name — Brightpoint.
After more than 50 years of serving Northeast Indiana, Brightpoint continues to serve nearly 40,000 individuals and 16,000 families annually and looks to a future without poverty in which all people have access to opportunities and are treated with dignity.
